#1 National Guard Stephen E. Miller

I had the pleasure to talk with Stephen Miller who was chosen to play one of the National Guard Soldiers.  As it turned out he wasn’t in the movie at all and here’s what he had to say...

I indeed auditioned for and got a part in First Blood.  It was, as you know, shot in Hope, B.C.  I only had 4 days on the film, and they were supposed to be in mid January.  I went home (to North Carolina) to visit my family for Christmas, and while I was there I got a call that because of snow (!!) the dates had changed and would I fly back right away.  I said, sure I would if they paid for the flight since I had a ticket that was non refundable.  They refused, so I said forget it then.  The film got made without me, but I still got paid because they had bought the original four days from me.  I also saw the film later and I was in the tail credits!  Then only a year or so ago I met Ted Kotcheff again.  I reminded him that he had cast me in First Blood and told him the story which he very much appreciated.

I’d like to thank Mr. Miller for taking the time to tell me his interesting story and be sure to visit his website which can be accessed below.

RAMBO BRIDGE WILL BE REPLACED

Sad news for all First Blood fans…  Brian McKinney informed me that the referendum was passed to replace the famous Rambo Bridge at the end of the summer.  There is a committee including Brian  & Riley Forman who are trying their best to have it moved or portion preserved for nostalgic purposes.

Please drop Ron Smith-rsmith@hope.ca, who is part of the council in Hope, an email stating how important this piece of  movie infrastructure is to the community.

If you’re planning on making a trip out to Hope and with the Othello Tunnels opening in April, now is the time to visit.

Text Box: VIAU’S KNIVES.inc presents

Aug 8/2010

I am proud to introduce Steve Viau’s “First Blood 30th anniversary tribute knife” due to be released in 2012.  He has engineered the knife after Jimmy Lile’s numbers 7 to 13 with the First Blood sheath to match. Steve will produce 12 serial-numbered tribute knives and is already very close to being sold out with only the #11 knife remaining.

The blade will be stamped and made out of D2 steel with a stainless steel hollow handle, aluminum butt cap with a high quality grade AA liquid filled compass.  The knife set will include a very efficient survival kit, sharpening stone, buffalo hide carrying cases and a certificate of authenticity from Viau’s Knives.inc.

A message from the maker,

“This will be a knife intended to be used for what it’s been designed for but also, I will produce it with great attention to detail to satisfy the most serious Lile collector—like myself.”
